Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Distribution Operative to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the efficient movement, loading, and unloading of goods within our warehouse environment. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and familiarity with warehouse management systems to ensure smooth operations and timely deliveries. The position offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills in shipping and receiving, and warehouse management.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload goods using appropriate manual handling techniques
- Manage shipping and receiving processes, including verifying deliveries against purchase orders
- Organise stock within the warehouse, ensuring items are stored correctly for easy retrieval
- Assist with inventory counts and maintain accurate records using warehouse management systems
- Conduct routine maintenance checks on mechanical equipment to ensure operational safety
- Handle materials carefully during movement to prevent damage or injury
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily distribution targets
- Follow safety protocols at all times during handling, loading, and unloading activities
Qualifications
- Proven experience in warehouse operations or logistics preferred
- Valid forklift licence or certification is highly desirable
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is advantageous
- Strong physical fitness with the ability to perform heavy lifting regularly
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Prior experience in shipping & receiving roles is beneficial
