Surecall Medical is recruiting on behalf of our client, a highly respected palliative and end-of-life care provider, for an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join their specialist community nursing team.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a compassionate, clinically strong nurse to deliver expert, holistic care to service users and their families facing complex, distressing and life-limiting illnesses - while helping to shape and champion best practice across the wider team.
About the Role
You'll hold your own caseload, providing specialist assessment, support and advocacy to service users and carers, and acting as a source of expertise and mentorship for colleagues, including pre-registration students. You'll work closely with multi-disciplinary and primary healthcare teams, contribute to clinical audit and service improvement, and help embed evidence-based practice across the service.
Shift pattern: Mixed days and nights
- Days: 8:00am – 8:30pm
- Nights: 8:00pm – 8:30am
Base location: Primarily based in Berkshire West, with regular travel expected to the team's other sites.
A full UK driving licence and access to your own transport are essential for this role.
What You'll Be Doing
- Providing expert, holistic specialist care tailored to each service user's needs, wishes and culture
- Promoting evidence-based, up-to-date clinical practice, and contributing to clinical guidelines, audit and research
- Maintaining accurate service user records across written and electronic systems
- Supporting and mentoring junior colleagues and students within the team
- Working in partnership with senior nurses and the wider multi-disciplinary team to share knowledge and drive service development
- Championing service user choice, dignity and voice — enabling concerns and feedback to be raised freely
- Contributing to quality governance and service improvement initiatives
- Maintaining your own professional development and clinical competencies in line with NMC guidance
If you hold a Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) qualification, you'll also have the opportunity to utilise your prescribing skills directly within your caseload — this is desirable but not essential.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Registered General Nurse or Adult Nurse, currently registered with the UK NMC
- Strong, demonstrable experience in palliative care
- Evidence of continued professional development within a specialism
- Confident, up-to-date clinical practice, with the ability to challenge traditional boundaries using an evidence base
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex information across a range of settings
- Full UK driving licence and own transport
Desirable:
- Non-Medical Prescribing qualification and registration (modules completed at Master's level)
