Ginger & Joe is an independent cocktail bar & restaraunt in the heart of Newquay. We are looking for somone to join our team, that has a passion for food and can work well within a small team. The position is seasonal, until the end of September, however, for the right person, we will also have an oppertunity for progression within the company as our head chef is leaving later this year. Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior CDP to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with a passion for delivering high-quality meals in a fast-paced environment. The Senior CDP will be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal ingredients and innovative ideas.
- Supervise and support junior kitchen staff, providing guidance on food preparation techniques and safety procedures.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene standards across all kitchen activities.
- Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies and monitoring stock levels to minimise waste.
- Ensure timely delivery of meals during service hours while maintaining high standards of presentation.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service flow and customer satisfaction.
- Train new team members on kitchen protocols, safety practices, and culinary techniques.
Experience
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen management within a restaurant or similar setting.
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, meal preparation, and food safety regulations.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or senior role is preferred, demonstrating leadership capabilities.
- Familiarity with restaurant operations, serving procedures, and customer service standards is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
