About the Role
Proctor Cars are looking for a qualified and experienced Vehicle Mechanic / Technician to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.
We are looking for an experienced mechanic who knows the trade, takes pride in their work and can confidently carry out servicing, diagnostics and repairs to a high standard.
Experience is key for this position.
This isn't an entry-level role. We need someone with solid, hands-on experience who is comfortable diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs and managing their workload without needing constant supervision.
For the right person, this is an opportunity to secure a stable, long-term position with Proctor Cars, working Monday to Friday with no weekend working required.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday
Start: Approximately 8:30am–9:00am
Finish: 5:00pm
No weekend working
Approximately 45 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities
As a Vehicle Mechanic / Technician at Proctor Cars, your duties will include:
- Vehicle servicing and routine maintenance
- General mechanical repairs
- Fault finding and diagnostics
- Brake, suspension and steering work
- Identifying mechanical and electrical faults
- Inspecting vehicles and identifying work required
- Completing repairs efficiently and to a high standard
- Ensuring vehicles are mechanically sound and properly prepared
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship
- Keeping your working area clean, safe and organised
- Working alongside the rest of the team to ensure jobs are completed efficiently
What We're Looking For

The successful candidate should be confident working on a wide range of vehicles and capable of using their own knowledge and initiative to diagnose and resolve problems.
Ideally, you will have:
- Relevant Vehicle Mechanic / Technician qualifications
- Strong previous experience as a mechanic or vehicle technician
- Excellent practical mechanical knowledge
- Good diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Experience with servicing, maintenance and general repairs
- Confidence working independently
- The ability to identify faults and recommend appropriate repairs
- Good attention to detail
- A reliable and punctual approach
- The ability to manage your workload efficiently
- A professional attitude
- The ability to work well as part of a team
- A full UK driving licence
