Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Care Home Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious, balanced, and appealing meals for residents, ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene are maintained at all times. Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare daily menus that meet residents’ dietary requirements and preferences
- Cook and serve meals in accordance with nutritional guidelines and safety standards
- Ensure all food is prepared fresh, presented attractively, and served promptly
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations
- Manage stock levels, order supplies as needed, and minimise waste
- Assist with meal service, including serving residents and addressing any special dietary needs
- Follow all health and safety procedures to prevent contamination or accidents in the kitchen
- Record temperature checks and maintain accurate documentation of food safety practices
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Ability to prepare a variety of meals suitable for different dietary requirements
- Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Good communication skills to work effectively with staff and residents
- Previous experience working in a care home, hospital, or similar environment is desirable but not essential
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
