About Amelio Group
Amelio Group is a specialist utility infrastructure survey contractor delivering programmes for major UK and Ireland water clients, including Thames Water, Southern Water, Severn Trent Water, Anglian Water, Irish Water, Northern Ireland Water, United Utilities, and the Environment Agency. Our work spans flow monitoring, SDM installations, air valve condition assessments, catchment area surveys, asset surveys, pump hydraulic assessments, and WWTP surveys.
The Role
We are recruiting Field Technicians to work primarily on our Thames Water Sewer Depth Monitoring (SDM) programme, installing, maintaining, and retrieving monitoring equipment across the Thames Water network. This is a field-based, hands-on role covering site surveys, equipment installation, and data collection to support one of our flagship water industry contracts.
While the Thames Water SDM programme is the primary focus, Amelio operates across multiple UK and Ireland water company contracts. Depending on business workflow and client priorities, technicians may also be deployed to support asset surveys and related field activities for our other clients, including catchment area surveys, air valve condition assessments, manhole and pump station surveys, and CCTV/connectivity surveys. Flexibility to work across contracts as needed is an important part of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, maintain, and retrieve SDM/flow monitoring equipment on the Thames Water network in line with site method statements.
- Carry out confined space and below-ground works safely, including manhole entry, in accordance with site-specific risk assessments.
- Complete accurate site records, photographs, and data logs using company mobile applications and reporting templates.
- Undertake asset surveys for other Amelio water company clients as required, including catchment area surveys (CAS/IAS), air valve condition assessments, and pump station or manhole surveys.
- Liaise professionally with landowners, members of the public, and client representatives while on site.
- Identify and report faults, access issues, or health & safety concerns promptly to the Field Operations Manager.
- Maintain vehicle, tools, and equipment in good working order, and manage stock/inventory of monitoring equipment.
- Adhere to all health & safety, traffic management, and environmental compliance requirements, including PPE and site-specific inductions.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in utility field surveys, flow monitoring, SDM installation, or a related infrastructure/civils background is desirable.
- Confined space entry and working at height certification (or willingness to obtain), including manhole/below-ground access training.
- Full UK driving licence, with willingness to travel extensively and work across multiple client sites and regions.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, often on roadside, rural, or below-ground sites.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate data capture and site documentation.
- Good communication skills and a professional manner when representing Amelio and its clients on site.
- Flexible and adaptable approach, given the varied nature of client programmes and site locations.
- NRSWA / Street Works qualification, First Aid at Work, and CSCS card are an advantage.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
- Company vehicle, tools, and PPE provided.
- Full training and certification support (confined space, working at height, traffic management).
- Exposure to a broad range of water industry survey work across multiple UK and Ireland clients.
- Career development within a growing utility infrastructure survey business.
