Role Summary
Tanglewood Healthcare is a well-established, successful, and rapidly growing group of care homes, committed to delivering outstanding care to its residents. The Finance Team plays a critical role in supporting this mission by ensuring robust financial control, accurate reporting, and excellent service to both internal and external stakeholders.
The Accounts Payable Assistant is an important role within the Finance Team, hands-on in day-to-day finance operations.
The role supports the Accounts Payable Senior who ensures all finance processes are completed accurately, compliantly, and on time.
Study support may be available for the right candidate in line with the Finance Training Policy.
Key Responsibilities
Team Management
· Supporting Senior Management to ensure the Finance Team delivers a high-quality service to the wider business and customers
· Ensuring agreed financial controls, policies, and procedures are consistently applied
Accounts Payable
· Assist with the full AP process, from invoice receipt to payment in line with cash flow forecasting.
· Ensure accurate coding and authorisation of invoices in accordance with company policy.
· Ensure resolution of supplier disputes and non-routine queries efficiently.
· Perform supplier statement reconciliations.
· Assist with payment run preparation (BACS).
· Process staff expense claims in line with company policy.
· Assist with internal ordering system as required.
Financial Control & Reporting
· Maintain the integrity of the AP ledger (resolving debit balances, clearing old items).
· Ensure accurate VAT treatment on all invoices.
· Assist the Accounts Payable Senior to identify process improvements to increase efficiency within the AP department.
· Comfortable with liaising with suppliers and care home staff where required
Other Duties
· Supporting the Finance Manager and wider finance team with ad hoc tasks and projects as required
· Contributing to continuous improvement of finance processes, controls, and ways of working
Person Specification
Essential
· Must possess a minimum of AAT Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification.
· Strong experience in a finance role covering Accounts Payable
· Good Excel skills
· Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
· Ability to manage and prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment
Desirable
· Operational experience in a care home
· AAT Level 3 or 4 qualification.
