Job Opportunity: Bakery Assistant at The Shortbread House of Edinburgh
Are you passionate about the art of baking and seeking an opportunity to contribute your talents to The Shortbread House of Edinburgh? We are currently looking for a Bakery Assistants to join our team on a temporary basis until December 2026. The vacancies are in our shortbread production and packing teams. Shortbread House is a family-run bakery in the heart of Edinburgh. We supply a range of luxury shortbread and Cheese Sablés to the online, retail and catering markets in the UK and abroad. Shortbread House emphasises quality over quantity, winning more Great Taste Awards than any other Scottish shortbread bakery. Although we are a small team our baking operations are considerable, this requires a high output and the fulfilment of repetitive tasks.
Opportunities in our Shortbread Bakery are 39 hours per week, working Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities may include:
· Assist in the production of our renowned shortbread and cheese sablés, following our handcrafted traditional recipes and techniques.
· Help with the preparation and mixing of ingredients, ensuring adherence to our high-quality standards.
· Embrace the physical nature of the role, which involves standing for long periods, lifting, and working in a fast-paced environment.
· Maintain a clean and organized baking environment to ensure optimal efficiency.
· Collaborate with our experienced bakers to achieve excellence in taste, texture, and presentation.
· Assist with packaging and labelling our shortbread creations with attention to detail.
Requirements:
· A passion for baking and a desire to learn from our experienced team.
· Previous experience within a Bakery environment would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be provided.
· Ability to work quickly and efficiently on repetitive tasks whilst under pressure.
· Strong attention to detail to ensure the quality of our shortbread delights.
· Comfort with the physically demanding aspects of working in a fast-paced bakery.
· Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet bakery demands.
· Ability to work collaboratively in a close-knit team.
