About the role
Ifor Williams Trailers (IWT) is Britain's leading trailer manufacturer, operating at six advanced manufacturing sites across North Wales. You have the opportunity to work at a world class manufacturing site, with an investment of over £50 million in advanced manufacturing machinery, including Robotic Welders, Automated Fibre Laser Profiling, Vertical Turning Centres, Turret Punching Machines, CNC Press Brakes.
Responsibility for the Engineering aspects of CNC based production, including the programming, tooling, setting, quality, efficiency and process control of production parts.
Primary Objectives/Outputs:
1. To control the programming of parts on CNC processes, including new part development, existing part changes and improvement to process efficiencies.
2. To control & record engineering changes, developments, and trials to ensure all information is captured and an audit trail is maintained.
3. Continuously improve the existing IWT processes through data analysis, tooling optimisation and quality results.
4. Take the lead role in all technical aspects, sharing knowledge with production team members and delivering mentoring and training including best practices.
5. Use skills, knowledge & experience to research new industry development with equipment and tooling to ensure the business uses the best possible solutions.
6. Champion all health & safety standards to ensure they are met or exceeded both during the development and testing process and in the usage of the equipment by production colleagues.
7. Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, Design, Maintenance & EHS departments to deliver the best possible solutions to projects and improvement activities.
8. Escalate risks, non-compliance, concerns, and quality deficiencies to the responsible management team and ensure that these are rectified.
9. Regularly evaluate the operation of processes and controls, discussing with management as necessary, making use of KPIs & data to monitor performance.
10. Develop and implement KPIs that capture the performance of equipment and tooling. Use root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and lean methodology to always target improvements and achieve excellence. Escalate and address business risks without delay or hesitation.
11. Actively monitor the quality of products being produced, and adherence of production team members to the relevant procedure and controls.
12. Lead by example and use a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and voice of the customer.
13. Be proactive in approach and challenge the current situation, ask questions and seek answers.
14. To act on results that are outside of acceptable targets and resolve in a timely manner using a structured approach.
15. Be a Change Agent and overcome resistance and poor practice to implement and sustain change.
