As a housekeeper you will be responsible for leading ward services such as catering, cleaning, assisting in equipment management and the organizing of supplies. The work will include keeping the ward and staff areas clean, serving refreshments when required and clearing away afterwards. General duties may also include, but not be limited to:
- Keep facilities and common areas clean and maintained.
- Clean restrooms and facilitate clean and tidy changing rooms.
- Notify managers of necessary repairs.
- Collect and dispose of refuse where necessary.
- Assist patient relatives when necessary.
- Keep linen room stocked.
- Keep storerooms clean and tidy and decant into clinical areas.
- Any other duties not mentioned commensurate with training and reasonable expectation to ensure proper unit function.

Patient Focused Care
Being courteous and helpful to patients, families, colleagues and all users and visitors to the ward
Welcome patients to the ward in a friendly, professional manner, orientating them and their families to the ward and hospital where necessary
Provide accurate and timely information to patients regarding ward routines i.e. visiting times, mealtimes
Provide additional refreshments for patients and families where appropriate
Assist in the cleaning of empty beds when requested by the nurse in charge of the unit and ensure that this is correctly set up in preparation for an admission
Answer the telephone, take messages and communicate them to the proper and correct person and/ or team
Support the ward team by undertaking tasks to enhance patient care i.e. collection of food items, laundry, supplies, etc.
Recognise when additional support is required such as interpreters and chaplaincy and arranging such in conjunction with nurse in charge
