We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our Assessment team on a Permanent basis.
Working as part of Middlesbrough Council, our multi-disciplinary service supports individuals experiencing issues related to substance use.
The Assessment team plays a vital role in welcoming new clients into the service, ensuring they receive timely, safe, and appropriate support form the outset.
As a Caseworker in the Assessment team, you will be the first point of contact for individuals accessing our service. You will carry our initial assessments, provide harm reduction advice, identify safeguarding concerns, and support onward referrals. Your work will help lay the foundation for each person’s recovery journey.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct initial screenings and assessments to identify client needs.

Provide harm minimisation advice and brief interventions.

Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns appropriately.

Liaise with the clinical team to co-ordinate appropriate clinical input.

Support onward referrals and smooth transition into treatment pathways.

Work flexibly to meet service demands across multiple sites.
The ideal candidate will have:

Experience working with vulnerable populations – ideally those with issues related to substance use.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

The ability to organise and manage their own caseload.
-
A commitment to a trauma-informed, strength-based approach.

This role also requires a full UK Driving License and access to a vehicle. You will also need to have business insurance in place prior to starting, if you do not already have this.
