Job Description:
Position: Full Time Timber Sales Assistant in Yandles Toolshop & Self-Selection Timber Yard
Schedule: Working 5 days a week, Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 5.00pm
Location: Yandles Toolshop and Self-Selection Yard
Yandles Toolshop is looking for a new member of staff to work primarily in the adjoining self-selection timber department, overseeing the day-to-day sales of our wide variety of planking and turning blanks. The ideal candidate would be polite and hardworking, with a good knowledge of timber and its various species. The ability to take initiative, work face to face with customers and assist with the carrying of timber is a must.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service, assisting and advising customers in the self-selection yard and on the shop floor.
- Handle cash and card payments at the checkout.
- Ensure the well-being of customers by going above and beyond.
- Engage in physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and the transport of timber.
- Cut, carry, and price timber products.
- Maintain and organise the timberyard.
- Unlocking / Locking of the Timber Yard.
- Restocking and stock checking timber products.
- Answer phone calls and process customer orders.
- Utilize company PCs and tablets for various tasks.
- Flexible to cover in additional Yandles retail areas.

- Physical fitness to handle potentially heavy items like timber and machines.
- Previous woodworking knowledge or retail/sales experience is a plus, but not mandatory. Timber knowledge is preferred.
- Confidence and a friendly demeanour.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Basic IT skills.
- Flexibility to cover in additional Yandles retail spaces, if required.
