Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Head Housekeeper to lead our housekeeping team in delivering exceptional cleanliness and comfort across our care home. This vital role involves overseeing daily cleaning operations, maintaining high standards of hygiene, and ensuring a welcoming environment for all clients, guests and staff. As the leader of the housekeeping department, you will coordinate cleaning schedules, manage staff, and uphold the highest levels of service excellence to enhance our guests’ experience.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate all housekeeping activities to ensure efficient and thorough cleaning of residents rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces
- Develop and implement cleaning protocols that meet safety and hygiene standards, including sanitation procedures for high-touch surfaces
- Train, mentor, and motivate housekeeping staff to maintain consistent quality and professionalism in their work
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness standards are met or exceeded, addressing any deficiencies promptly
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring proper stock levels and maintenance
- Schedule staff shifts to optimize coverage during peak times while controlling labor costs
- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate special cleaning projects or deep cleans for guest rooms or public areas
Skills
- Proven experience in care home housekeeping environment with janitorial expertise
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team in a fast-paced setting
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently and prioritize effectively
- Knowledge of sanitation regulations, safety procedures, and cleaning techniques specific to hospitality settings
- Exceptional communication skills for clear instructions and effective team coordination
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities while maintaining high standards of cleanliness
- Familiarity with cleaning equipment, supplies management, and basic maintenance procedures
