Lebowskis is looking for a talented Sous Chef to join our kitchen team.
We’re a busy, lively Glasgow bar and kitchen known for great food, great drinks and a chilled atmosphere. We need someone who can help lead the kitchen, maintain high standards and keep things running smoothly when things gets busy.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being part of the action. You’ll work closely with the Head Chef, support the wider kitchen team and help make sure every dish leaving the pass is prepared consistently and presented properly.
The Role
As Sous Chef, you will support the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen. You’ll help lead services, organise the team, manage preparation and maintain excellent standards of food quality, cleanliness and organisation.
You should be confident taking charge when required, comfortable working under pressure and willing to get stuck into every part of the kitchen operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef with the daily management of the kitchen.
- Lead kitchen services and maintain control during busy periods.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared, cooked and presented to the correct standard.
- Help organise food preparation and ensure the kitchen is fully ready for service.
- Supervise, support and motivate chefs and kitchen porters.
- Train team members on recipes, preparation methods, presentation and kitchen procedures.
- Maintain consistent portion sizes and minimise unnecessary food waste.
- Assist with stock control, ordering, deliveries and stock rotation.
- Monitor food costs and support the Head Chef in achieving agreed gross profit targets.
- Ensure all food is stored, labelled and handled correctly.
- Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, hygiene and kitchen organisation.
- Help develop seasonal dishes, specials and improvements to the food offer.
- Communicate clearly with the front-of-house team before and during service.
- Take responsibility for the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
- Support a positive, respectful and hard-working kitchen culture.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or a strong Junior Sous Chef ready to take the next step.
- Confidence leading a team during a busy service.
- Good knowledge of food safety, allergens and kitchen hygiene.
- Strong organisation and time-management skills.
- Pride in producing consistently good food.
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Reliability, flexibility and a willingness to support the team.
- An understanding of stock control, food costs and waste management.
- Someone who takes the job seriously without taking themselves too seriously.

Working Hours
This is a full-time role and will include a mixture of daytime, evening and weekend shifts.
Pay: £14.50 per hour
