Superior Food Machinery is looking for a detail-focused Company Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our team on a permanent basis.
This is a hands-on and varied role with responsibility for the day-to-day financial administration of the business, working closely with the Directors and external Accountants. The successful candidate will be organised, reliable and diligent, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining sales, purchase, stock and cashbook ledgers, including bank reconciliations.
- Inputting and processing GBP and foreign purchase invoices and arranging payments.
- Maintaining foreign currency transactions.
- Managing funds and transactions through external payment platforms including PayPal, eBay and BACS.
- Maintaining the fixed asset register, including monthly depreciation postings.
- Managing credit control, including liaising with debt collectors, conducting credit reviews and producing regular customer statements.
- Conducting monthly warehouse stocktakes for valuation purposes.
- Processing VAT and duty payments to HMRC.
- Maintaining and processing import duty and import VAT records, including HMRC C79 and PVA customs reports.
- Preparing accounts through to profit and loss and balance sheet level.
- Preparing prepayments and accrual schedules.
- Completing month-end and year-end duties for the external Accountant.
- General housekeeping and maintenance of Sage 200.
- Liaising with Directors and external Accountants on financial matters.
- Supporting the smooth and accurate running of the company's accounting function.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Ideally AAT Level 4 qualified, although candidates with AAT Level 3 and strong relevant experience will be considered.
- Experienced in a similar accounting or bookkeeping position.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Reliable, diligent and able to meet deadlines
- Experience with Sage 200 would be advantageous.
Pay: £31,000.00-£37,000.00 per year
