About Inspire 2 Ignite
Inspire 2 Ignite exists to reduce the number of young people who are NEET, supporting them to build successful and fulfilling futures for themselves, regardless of their circumstances.
We work with young people who are disengaged from education, at risk of becoming NEET, or navigating complex transitions. Through programmes, experiences and ongoing community support, we help young people build confidence, develop skills and access real opportunities.
Young people are at the heart of everything we do. We prioritise relationships, trust and long-term impact over quick wins.
The Role
We are looking for a Youth Engagement Coordinator who is genuinely driven by building lasting relationships with young people and supporting them all the way from first contact through to real progression outcomes.
You will follow young people across their journey with Inspire 2 Ignite – from initial engagement and onboarding through to ongoing, relationship-led support towards education, employment, entrepreneurship or other meaningful next steps. Building trust and sustaining it over time is central to this role. You will work alongside our existing Youth Progression Coordinator, who works in the same way – sharing learning, covering for each other, and working together on outreach and session delivery for the wider cohort.
You must be someone who can build trust quickly and then sustain it - equally comfortable creating energy in a first session with a new group and holding a steady, ongoing 1:1 relationship with a young person over many months.
Key Responsibilities
Relationship Ownership & Continuity
● Support young people across the full journey - from first engagement through to ongoing progression support
● Build trusting, sustained relationships with young people you support, adapting your support as their needs change over time
● Work with young people to understand their interests, goals and barriers, and support them to access education, employment, entrepreneurship, training and experiences
Engagement & Outreach
● Build trusting relationships with new young people through outreach, programmes, experiences and community touchpoints
● Lead on identifying and reaching young people who are disengaged, at risk of becoming NEET, or navigating complex transitions
● Engage young people across a range of settings throughout the region, including community spaces, job centres, schools, colleges and other youth organisations
● Represent Inspire 2 Ignite in the community, at partner sites and at events to build the pipeline of young people we support
Onboarding & Ongoing Support
● Ensure young people feel welcomed, understood and supported from first contact
● Onboard young people into Inspire 2 Ignite's wider ecosystem of support and opportunities
● Maintain regular contact with young people you support, offering encouragement, accountability and practical support as they progress
Session & Programme Delivery
● Support the delivery of engagement-focused sessions and activities, including Youth and Enterprise Day
● Create an environment where young people feel able to participate, contribute and build confidence
● Work with the wider team to keep sessions relevant, energising and well attended
Collaboration
● Work closely with the Youth Progression Coordinator to share learning, cover for each other when needed, and jointly agree how new young people are allocated between you
● Work closely with the Programme Manager, partnerships lead and wider team on scheduling, delivery and identifying opportunities relevant to young people needs
● Contribute to a positive, youth-centred organisational culture
Tracking & Outcomes
● Track engagement, progression and outcomes for the young people you support
● Contribute to learning around what works, what doesn't and why
● Support the development of Inspire 2 Ignite's engagement and progression approach
Who We're Looking For
You don't need a specific job title background - but you do need the right mindset, and demonstrable experience of both engaging young people and supporting them over a sustained period.
You're likely to have experience in youth work, community work, alternative education or similar, and you:
● Care deeply about young people and their futures
● Are confident building relationships quickly with young people from diverse backgrounds, including those who are initially hard to reach
● Are equally comfortable holding a steady, ongoing 1:1 relationship over time as you are creating energy in a group setting
● Are proactive, persistent and solutions-focused
● Can balance empathy with encouragement and challenge
● Are organised enough to track progress across the young people you support, but flexible enough to adapt
Working at Inspire 2 Ignite
● Full-time role with flexible working
● A values-led organisation that prioritises trust and autonomy
● The opportunity to shape a growing organisation and its community infrastructure
● Space to develop, grow and take on more responsibility over time
Pay & Progression
● Salary £26,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience
● Opportunities for progression as Inspire 2 Ignite scales its work and impact
