The Role
We are seeking an experienced Inventory Controller to join our busy Birmingham Operations Department, with a yearly salary of up to £30,000, depending on experience. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years’ experience in positions of inventory controller or stock controller positions.The Inventory Controller plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient management and accuracy of stock within the operations department, particularly in a fast-paced jewellery environment. Responsible for overseeing the flow of stock in and out of the UK Operational business, the role involves conducting regular stock takes, organising returned jewellery items, and maintaining precise inventory records. By ensuring that all stock is correctly labelled, tracked, and stored, the Inventory Controller supports smooth day-to-day operations and upholds high standards across the department.
In addition to stock control, the role requires close collaboration with multiple departments, including workshop, repairs, dispatch, and retail showrooms. The Inventory Controller helps coordinate stock transfers, manage In Stock purchase orders, and ensure that inventory is available to meet demand and agreed turnaround times. This includes monitoring stock levels, forecasting supply needs, and preventing both overstocking and shortages, all while maintaining alignment with wider business priorities.
A key aspect of the position is analysing inventory and supply chain data to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements to systems, workflows, and processes. The Inventory Controller also liaises with suppliers and vendors to ensure the quality and cost-effectiveness of stock purchases. Through strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication, the role ensures operational efficiency, supports productivity, and delivers consistent, high-quality outcomes for both internal teams and customers.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities as an Inventory Controller for the Operational Department at Neve Jewels will include, but not be limited to:
- Handle high-value inventory with strict adherence to security procedures.
- Performing regular stock checks using (ERP/POS/manual logs) (daily, weekly, monthly audits).
- Investigating stock discrepancies and reporting any issues to management.
- Labelling and maintaining barcodes or tags on all items for accurate tracking.
- Managing the movement of jewellery stock in and out of the business, including deliveries, transfers, returns, tagging, and processing.
- Monitoring inventory levels and replenishing stock as needed to ensure optimal availability of products.
- Developing and implementing inventory control systems and practices.
- Forecasting supply and demand requirements to ensure stock availability.
- Tracking inbound and outbound orders to prevent overstocking and out-of-stock (OOS).
- Analysing and reviewing supply chain data to identify and resolve issues in order to support loss prevention strategies and internal controls.
- Generating purchase and pricing reports, supply chain analysis, and inventory management systems.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in inventory, retail, warehousing, logistics, or similar.
- Exceptional understanding of inventory management practices such as aging stock analysis and cycle counting.
- Good analytical and logistical abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong eye for quality.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
- Proficiency in using Apple iMac computers.
- Advanced Excel skills, including data entry, formula creation, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Strong ability to manage and interpret large datasets for reporting and tracking purposes.
