Overview
Wateringbury Post Office operates an Outreach Postal Service to ensure rural communities continue to receive essential Post Office services. We are seeking a reliable, customer‑focused individual to deliver these services across multiple outreach locations using a portable Post Office setup.
This role will commence in September 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to outreach sites including Matfield, Horsmonden, and Teston, transporting and setting up a portable Post Office counter.
- Provide a full range of Post Office transactions, including mails, bill payments, banking services, and retail products.
- Ensure secure handling, transport, and operation of all Post Office equipment, cash, and documentation.
- Deliver friendly, professional customer service to residents who rely on the outreach service as their primary access point.
- Maintain accurate records of transactions, stock, and outreach activity.
- Set up and pack down the portable Post Office safely and efficiently at each location.
- Represent Wateringbury Post Office positively within the community.
Requirements
- Ability to travel independently to multiple sites within a 10‑mile radius of Wateringbury.
- Strong customer service skills and confidence working independently.
- High levels of reliability, integrity, and professionalism.
- Comfortable handling cash and following strict security procedures.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle (mileage paid).
- Ability to lift and transport portable equipment.
Flexibility & Additional Cover
- Flexibility is required to cover other staff during operational absences.
- Additional hours may be offered when cover is needed.
Working Pattern & Payment
- 16 hours per week across scheduled outreach sessions.
- Self‑employed contractor arrangement.
- £12.71 per hour plus mileage reimbursement for travel to outreach sites.
