Job Summary
We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of steel, primarily using flatbed lorries. Duties
- Operate HGV lorries in accordance with road safety regulations and company policies
- Conduct pre-journey safety checks on the vehicle and associated equipment
- Deliver goods to various locations efficiently and on time, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including timesheets and walk around checks
- Maintain communication with the office regarding schedules, delays, or issues during the day
- Ensure compliance with all legal driving hours and tachograph regulations
- Rope and sheet flatbed loads securely, adhering to health and safety standards
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues promptly
Experience
- Proven experience as a HVG Class 1 driver
- Valid HGV Class 1 licence recognised within the UK
- Demonstrable knowledge of road safety laws and regulations pertaining to large goods vehicles
- Experience in delivery of steel and the use flatbed trailers is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of vehicle safety checks and maintenance procedures
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks associated with loading and securing cargo
