Southmere Home Care Ltd is recruiting Healthcare Assistants for our CQC registered service, supporting adults in their own homes across London. You will be accountable to the Registered Manager.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience of working with mental health, learning disabilities and autism, and a Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care (or working towards one). The post holder will be expected to support service users with daily living, promoting independence, choice, and dignity within their own homes and communities.
The role is to ensure that service users' physical, personal, psychological, spiritual and cultural needs are met, whilst promoting personal and physical independence and choice within a person-centred approach.
Shift Patterns: This is a bank position, subject to availability of hours. Shift patterns will be confirmed in due course.
Responsibilities
- Provide high quality, responsive and person-centred support that meets the physical, mental and emotional needs of service users, ensuring people have choice and control over their own lives.
- Support individuals with their care plans, ensuring they are followed accurately and respectfully, and assist with related risk assessments.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a warm and trusting environment.
- Ensuring that all service user records are accurately and promptly maintained.
- Promote independent living, confidence building, self-awareness, and participation in the local community.
- Communicate/consult with relatives, partners, advocates, friends or carers and other staff and agencies, as appropriate, regarding the service user's health, social care and well-being.
- Promote service user involvement in shaping and monitoring the support they receive, so they have real choice and control.
- Assisting with personal care (washing and bathing).
- Administration of medication, documenting accordingly.
- Meal preparation, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
- Light domestic duties to promote a safe and comfortable living environment.
- Supporting clients in attending appointments or engaging in social activities outside the home if required.

Requirements
- Minimum 1 year paid UK professional experience in the social care sector (preferred)
- Level 3 Health and Social Care or equivalent
- Right to work in the UK
- Provide clinical references
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with a caring attitude towards clients of all ages and backgrounds
- Good IT skills for maintaining accurate documentation and following digital care plans
- Valid driving licence preferred, to facilitate client visits
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Flexible, with availability for evenings and weekends if required
- A friendly, calm and compassionate manner, with a genuine desire to support others' wellbeing
