RA Care Group is establishing its first children's home in Leyton, East London. Our aim is to create a well-led home where children experience consistency, feel secure and are supported to make sustained progress. We are looking for an experienced Registered Manager to lead the home through registration and beyond. This is an opportunity to play a defining role in establishing the service, shaping its culture, recruiting the team and setting the standards from day one.
The Role
As Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the leadership, management and day-to-day operation of the home, ensuring it operates in full compliance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
Working closely with the Responsible Individual and Directors, you will lead the home through registration, recruit and develop the staff team, embed high standards of practice and create a positive culture centred around the needs of the children.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the home through the Ofsted registration process and maintain compliance following registration.
- Ensure the home consistently meets the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Recruit, lead, supervise and develop a committed staff team.
- Promote positive outcomes through high-quality, child-centred care.
- Ensure safeguarding remains at the heart of all decision-making and practice.
- Manage staffing, budgets, rotas and operational performance.
- Complete audits, quality assurance reviews and continuous improvement plans.
- Build strong relationships with local authorities, social workers, education providers, healthcare professionals and Ofsted.
- Prepare the home for inspections and maintain accurate, high-quality records.
- Create a positive working environment that supports accountability, development and professional excellence.
About You
We're looking for an experienced and motivated leader who is passionate about improving the lives of children and young people.
You will ideally have:
- Experience as a Registered Manager within an Ofsted-registered children's home.
- Experience of successfully opening or supporting the registration of a children's home is highly desirable.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and safeguarding legislation.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Experience managing teams, performance and quality assurance.
