Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth Worker in Charge to lead and inspire young people within our centre programs. This vital role involves overseeing youth activities, fostering a safe and engaging environment, and providing mentorship to empower youth to reach their full potential. The ideal candidate will work very closely with the leader in charge of the centre. The hours will be 6 hours a week (2 evenings) or 12 hours a week (4 evenings). The successful candidate will show leadership, and a genuine commitment to youth development, ensuring that every young person feels valued, supported, and motivated to succeed.
Duties
- Lead and coordinate youth programs, activities, and workshops that promote personal growth, teamwork, and skill development
- Supervise and support a team of youth workers and volunteers, ensuring high standards of care and engagement
- Build strong relationships with young people, acting as a positive role model and mentor
- Develop tailored activities that cater to diverse needs, including those requiring special education support
- Maintain a safe environment by enforcing safety protocols and addressing any behavioral concerns promptly
- Collaborate with families, schools, and community partners to enhance program impact and outreach
- Monitor program progress through record-keeping, evaluations, and feedback collection to continually improve service quality
Requirements
- Proven experience working with children and young people in educational or community settings
- Strong background in youth work, mentoring, or teaching roles with a focus on positive youth development
- Knowledge of special education needs and strategies for inclusive programming
- Excellent communication skills to connect effectively with youth from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to lead a team confidently while maintaining a lively, motivating atmosphere
- Demonstrated ability to plan engaging activities that foster learning and personal growth
- Relevant certifications in youth work or related fields are preferred but not mandatory
