About the role
Balfour Beatty Asset & Technology Solutions has an exciting opportunity for a HGV Technician to join our Fleet team based in Derby.
In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and effective servicing, repair and maintenance of a wide range of heavy goods vehicles, including gritters and other specialist vehicles. You will play an important part in keeping our fleet operational, reliable and compliant, ensuring vehicles are maintained to the highest standards and are available to support our projects and customers.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, works safely at all times, and is committed to delivering excellent service.
What you'll be doing
As a HGV Technician, your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out servicing, repairs and maintenance on a range of HGVs and specialist fleet vehicles
- Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
- Diagnosing faults and using diagnostic equipment to support effective repairs
- Supporting the achievement of strong vehicle availability and reduced vehicle downtime
- Working in line with company health, safety, environmental and quality procedures
- Completing all relevant administration accurately and on time
- Helping to maintain high standards across MOT preparation and vehicle compliance
- Supporting a customer-focused service and exceeding customer expectations wherever possible
- Contributing to a positive team environment and sharing knowledge with colleagues
- Demonstrating Balfour Beatty’s values through safe, professional and responsible working practices
Who we're looking for
We are looking for someone with experience in the service, repair and maintenance of HGVs, who can work safely and effectively in a busy workshop environment.
The successful candidate will have:
- A City & Guilds qualification, or equivalent, in a relevant field, or the ability to demonstrate an equivalent level of skill
- An HGV driving licence
- Experience using diagnostic equipment
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements
- Basic computer skills
- A strong focus on quality, safety and customer service
- The ability to work well as part of a team
- A flexible approach, as working hours may vary during busy periods
