The Tudor Barn in Eltham is an award winning prestigious venue for weddings and functions, as well as welcoming customers to our Gastro Pub and Restaurant. Situated in London’s only genuine Tudor barn. We are currently recruiting for an experienced Events and Restaurant manager.
Summary
Reporting directly to the Head of Operations and Events, the Events and Restaurant Manager is responsible for the overall management and performance of all front of house, restaurant, bar, and event operations at Tudor Barn Eltham. The role ensures exceptional guest experiences, high operational standards, robust financial control, and effective team leadership across the venue.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day running of all Food and Beverage operations, including restaurant service, bar service, weddings, private events, and other functions.
- Prepare, manage, and oversee staff rotas to ensure effective staffing levels across restaurant and events operations.
- Lead and manage all front of house operations to ensure consistently high standards of service, presentation, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction.
- Act as the senior point of contact for operational issues, customer concerns, and service recovery.
- Ensure the smooth planning, setup, execution, and close-down of all events and restaurant services.
- Maintain continual awareness of the operational diary, including weddings, private events, restaurant bookings, special requirements, and staffing needs.
- Work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to maintain high food quality, efficient communication, and smooth service delivery.
- Ensure all menus, allergen information, and dietary requirement procedures are accurate and updated as required.
- Maintain programming of the Epos till system and Open Table booking systems in line with all operational requirements.
- Ensure the venue maintains first-class presentation standards across all public areas, including restaurant, bar, event spaces, toilets, and outdoor areas.
- Manage stock control procedures across food, beverage, and operational supplies.
- Actively promote upselling and on-selling opportunities across food and beverage to drive revenue and support financial targets
- Manage all Food and Beverage administration, including emails, reporting, opening and closing sheets, briefing documents, checklists, and operational paperwork.
- Oversee and manage the OpenTable reservation system, including bookings, amendments, cancellations, table planning, group reservations, and event deposits.
- Ensure full compliance with all Health and Safety, food hygiene, licensing, fire safety, and company procedures
Experience
- Minimum three to five years' experience in food and beverage operations, hospitality, or restaurant management.
- Previous management experience within a venue, restaurant, bar, or catering environment.
- Proven experience managing staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
- Experience overseeing food service standards, customer satisfaction, and daily operational procedures.
- Strong background in stock control, budgeting, cost management, and supplier coordination.
- Demonstrable knowledge of licensing law and experience operating within a licensed premises.
- Experience handling health and safety and food hygiene compliance.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Qualifications
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Sound knowledge of licensing law, including the Licensing Act 2003, Challenge 25, and responsible service of alcohol. A Personal Licence (APLH) is highly desirable.
- Strong working knowledge of allergen legislation, including Natasha's Law and Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 as retained in UK law.
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Customer service focused with a commitment to delivering outstanding guest experiences.
- Financial and commercial awareness, including budget management, cost control, and revenue generation.
- Confident problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Ability to motivate, develop, and retain teams.
- High attention to detail across all aspects of the role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer literate, including Microsoft 365, POS systems, and reservation management platforms.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Food Hygiene Level 2 Certificate (minimum); Level 3 is desirable at management level.
- A Personal Licence (APLH) is highly desirable and may be required.
- First Aid qualification is advantageous.
Pay: From £35,000.00 per year
