1 Step Beyond Support – Cannock
Role: Day Centre Driver
We are looking for a reliable, caring and responsible Day Centre Driver to join our team, supporting vulnerable adults to travel safely to and from our Day Centre.
This is an important role within our service. You will be responsible for driving our company minibus and ensuring the people we support have a safe, comfortable and positive journey.
Main Responsibilities
As a Day Centre Driver, your duties will include:
- Driving the company minibus to collect vulnerable adults from their homes and transport them safely to the Day Centre.
- Returning individuals safely home at the end of their day.
- Escorting and supporting vulnerable adults during their journeys.
- Assisting individuals to safely enter and exit the vehicle where required.
- Supporting individuals who use wheelchairs or other mobility equipment.
- Ensuring wheelchairs, passengers and mobility equipment are correctly and safely secured before the vehicle moves.
- Following individual risk assessments, support plans and safe transportation procedures.
- Carrying out required vehicle safety checks before journeys.
- Reporting any vehicle defects, accidents, incidents or concerns promptly.
- Maintaining a calm, professional and respectful approach at all times.
- Communicating effectively with Day Centre staff, families and other members of the team.
- Maintaining the dignity, privacy and confidentiality of the people we support.
- Following all company policies and procedures, including safeguarding, health and safety and safe moving and handling procedures.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a full UK driving licence.
- Is a confident, competent and responsible driver.
- Is patient, friendly and comfortable working with vulnerable adults.
- Understands the importance of safeguarding and duty of care.
- Is reliable and punctual, as individuals depend on our transport service to attend the Day Centre.
- Can communicate effectively with individuals who may have different communication and support needs.
- Is willing to complete all required training.
- Can work well as part of a team and follow agreed procedures.
Previous experience working within social care, supported living, learning disabilities or adult day services would be an advantage, but appropriate training will be provided.
The successful applicant will be required to complete the appropriate pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS check, before commencing employment.
