Role Purpose
To drive revenue growth through the development of existing customer accounts and conversion of new business opportunities, building strong customer relationships through proactive account management, opportunity development and effective pipeline management.
The role is responsible for converting qualified opportunities into customers, securing first orders and developing long-term account value through a combination of remote customer engagement, commercial insight and structured sales activity.
Working closely with the Sales & Commercial Coordinator, Marketing and Customer Services teams, the Internal Business Development Executive will play a key role in delivering revenue growth whilst maintaining exceptional customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Account Development
- Manage and develop an allocated portfolio of customer accounts
- Identify opportunities to increase customer spend and product penetration
- Develop account growth plans for priority customers
- Maintain regular customer engagement through Teams, telephone and email
- Build strong commercial relationships across customer accounts
- Support customer retention and long-term account development
New Business Development
- Take ownership of qualified leads generated through marketing activity, customer enquiries and business development initiatives
- Develop opportunities through the sales pipeline
- Convert qualified leads into first orders
- Build long-term customer relationships from initial enquiry through to account development
- Identify opportunities to generate additional business within existing and prospective accounts
Opportunity & Pipeline Management
- Maintain an active and accurate sales pipeline within HubSpot
- Progress opportunities through all stages of the sales process
- Ensure accurate forecasting and opportunity management
- Maintain CRM discipline and data quality
- Monitor pipeline performance and identify actions required to improve conversion
Quotations & Commercial Proposals
- Prepare quotations and commercial proposals for customers
- Follow up quotations and opportunities in a timely manner
- Improve quotation conversion rates through proactive follow-up
- Support customers through the purchasing decision process
- Ensure all opportunities are accurately recorded within HubSpot
Customer Relationship Management
- Conduct customer meetings via Teams, telephone and other digital channels
- Understand customer objectives and identify opportunities to support growth
- Build trust and credibility through consistent communication
- Maintain detailed customer records and engagement history within HubSpot
Collaboration
- Work closely with the Sales Coordinator to ensure effective lead handover and account setup
- Collaborate with Marketing on campaign opportunities and customer development initiatives
- Work alongside Customer Services to support customer onboarding and ongoing account development
- Engage field sales colleagues where face-to-face support would benefit conversion or account growth

Essential
- Previous experience within a sales, business development or account management role
- Proven ability to build customer relationships and identify growth opportunities

- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work proactively and independently

Travel & Location
Our workplace is based in Livingston and is not well served by public transport. Applicants should ensure they are able to travel to and from the site reliably. Long or difficult commutes may not be sustainable in the long term, so as part of the recruitment process, we will discuss travel arrangements to make sure the role is practical and manageable for you.
Occasional travel o customer meetings, company events and team meetings may be required.
