Night Security Officer – Thames Valley
About the Role
We are looking for a professional, reliable and security-focused Night Security Officer to join our Thames Valley team.
Based at Slough Regus, you will carry out mobile night patrols across designated locations, including railway stations and surrounding infrastructure. The role is focused on protecting assets, identifying security risks and responding to issues such as trespass, cable theft, graffiti and damage to railway infrastructure.
You will work closely with Network Rail Thames Valley Western, GWR, GTS and British Transport Police (BTP), helping to maintain a safe and secure railway environment.
Shift Pattern
The role operates on a 4 on / 2 off rota:
- 18:00 – 06:00
- Start and finish at Slough Regus
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out regular mobile security patrols across designated locations.
- Check and monitor railway assets and infrastructure.
- Patrol and inspect: Railway stations, Bridges, Underpasses, Access gates, Fencing and perimeter areas and other vulnerable locations and assets
- Identify and report security breaches, damage and suspicious activity.
- Respond to issues including: Cable theft, Trespass, Graffiti, Unsecured access points, Damaged fencing, Fly-tipping and other security and infrastructure-related incidents
- Maintain a visible security presence to deter criminal and anti-social behaviour.
- Complete accurate company documentation, including patrol logs and incident reports.
- Escalate incidents appropriately in accordance with company and client procedures.
- Work closely with Network Rail Thames Valley Western, GWR, GTS and BTP.
- Maintain professional communication with colleagues, clients and partner organisations.
- Follow all company, client and operational procedures.
Essential Requirements
- £17.95 Umbrella Paye per hour starting rate (Equivalent to £13.45 Paye per hour)
- Valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence – essential.
- Full UK driving licence and able to drive a manual vehicle.
- No more than 3 points on your driving licence.
- Willing and able to use the company LS vehicle.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional, reliable and punctual.
- Comfortable working independently during night shifts.
- Good observation and attention-to-detail skills.
- Able to identify and accurately report security issues and damage.
- Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with incidents.
- Complete pre employment checks
Desirable Experience
Previous experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Mobile security
- Railway security
- Network Rail environments
- Asset protection
- Night security patrols
- Incident response
- Working alongside BTP or other emergency services
Successful candidates will be required to:
- Complete our vetting process before starting.
- Complete a medical assessment before starting. This will be arranged and paid for by the company once vetting has been successfully completed.
- Complete mandatory track safety training, which is approximately 1–2 hours online, before commencing the role.
