About Us
We are a fast-growing food manufacturing business supplying major retailers, distributors, foodservice customers and restaurants across the UK.
We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Operations Assistant to support our day-to-day operations, customer service, logistics and office administration.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to develop a career in operations, supply chain, logistics or business management.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Office & Distribution Manager, you'll play a key role in keeping our operations running smoothly day to day.
We're looking for someone who enjoys being organised, solving problems and getting stuck in wherever needed. This isn't a role where you'll spend every day doing the same thing. One moment you could be helping a customer, the next arranging a last-minute delivery, supporting a product launch or working with the warehouse team to make sure orders leave on time.
We're a small, close-knit team, so attitude is just as important as experience. We want someone who is proactive, reliable, enjoys learning new things and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves when needed.
This role would suit someone who wants to build a long-term career in operations, logistics, supply chain or business management while gaining exposure to all areas of a growing food business.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing customer emails, phone calls, orders and enquiries
- Processing customer orders and maintaining order records
- Supporting customer retention and managing smaller direct accounts
- Coordinating deliveries and collections with transport partners
- Booking couriers, transport and loading bays
- Monitoring deliveries and resolving operational issues
- Liaising with customers, suppliers, warehouses and transport providers
- Maintaining dispatch records, delivery documentation, invoices and operational trackers
- Managing sample requests and preparing customer sample shipments
- Supporting stock checks and purchasing office, packaging and PPE supplies
- Creating and maintaining product labels, barcodes and GS1 records
- Updating customer, supplier and product databases
- Supporting retailer onboarding and new product launch projects
- Maintaining accurate filing systems and company records
- Assisting with operational reporting and process improvements
- Providing administrative support across departments as required
What We're Looking For
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail – you're the type of person who likes having things organised and takes pride in getting the details right
- Confident communicator with a professional and friendly approach – you understand that every customer interaction is an opportunity to strengthen relationships and create a positive experience
- Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and work independently
- Strong problem-solving mindset – you notice problems before they become bigger problems and enjoy finding practical solutions
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Good Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly
- Reliable, proactive and willing to take ownership of tasks
A Note on Experience
While experience in food manufacturing, logistics or operations would be an advantage, we're ultimately looking for the right person rather than the perfect CV.
We're a close-knit team and finding someone who fits our culture is just as important as finding someone with the right experience. If you have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, willingness to learn and enjoy working collaboratively, we'd love to hear from you.
We can teach the technical side of the role, including food manufacturing processes, traceability, retailer requirements and operational systems. What we can't teach is curiosity, ownership, reliability and the ability to build great relationships with colleagues and customers.
If you're someone who enjoys getting stuck in, helping others, solving problems and taking pride in your work, you'll fit right in.
