Job Description
The role of Occupational Therapist is an exciting opportunity to work within our multidisciplinary team. The core purpose of the role is to provide expertise, advice, and intervention for a varied occupational therapy caseload while supporting high-quality, person-centred care.
You will contribute to the well-being and development of our service users, promoting independence, engagement in meaningful activities, and overall quality of life. You will also support and guide activity co-ordinators and team leaders where appropriate and work within a supportive environment that encourages professional growth and development.
You will be responsible for delivering and supporting the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of therapeutic interventions, while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Regular supervision and opportunities for professional development will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Support in conducting comprehensive assessments using evidence-based and person-centred principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions.
- Support and contribute to the development and implementation of individualised treatment plans.
- Evaluate service users’ needs, strengths, and goals, promoting independence and wellbeing.
- Monitor, review, and document service users’ progress, adjusting interventions as necessary.
- Respond promptly to referrals and prioritise service user needs effectively.
- Implement a variety of therapeutic interventions to enhance:
- Functional independence
- Daily living skills
- Sensory processing
- Motor coordination
- Social and communication skills
- Facilitate both individual and group-based therapy sessions.
- Design, organise, and deliver structured therapeutic activities and programmes.
- Facilitate community integration activities to enhance participation and social inclusion.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
- Attend and actively participate in team meetings, contributing to discussions on service user progress.
- Follow best practice guidelines and contribute to continuous service improvement.
- Build positive and professional relationships with service users, families, and carers.
- Communicate therapy goals effectively and support their integration into daily routines.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to families, carers, and support staff.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in line with organisational and legal standards.
- Ensure all records of assessments, interventions, and progress updates are clear and up to date.
- Stay informed of current best practices and developments in occupational therapy.
- Participate in supervision, training, and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in occupational therapy.
- HCPC registration (or eligibility) to work as an Occupational Therapist in the UK.
- Strong understanding of occupational therapy principles and person-centred care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, patient-centred approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Desirable:
- Experience or knowledge of sensory integration, behavioural support, or functional skills development.
- Previous experience in supported living, health, or social care settings (preferred).
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
