JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Housekeeper
Reports To: Housekeeping Supervisor / Manager
Site: Ferryview Health Centre, 25 John Wilson Street, Woolwich, SE18 6PZ
Salary: £14.80 per hour
Hours: 15 hours per week
Overview of Areas – Ferryview (Second Floor)
- 2 kitchens
- Offices and office bays
- Corridors
- 4 toilets
- Terrace
- 2 meeting rooms
AREA RESPONSIBILITIESOffices
- Hoover carpets and ensure tables are clear of plates, cups, and rubbish.
- Wipe clean keyboards and mice.
- Empty rubbish bins and wipe bins clean.
- Ensure equipment and high/low surfaces are dust‑free.
- Spot‑check areas throughout the shift.
- Vacuum floors.
- High dusting.
- Low dusting.

Toilets
- Clean toilet (inside and outside).
- Clean sink.
- Clean mirror.
- Clean hand dryer.
- Top up dispensers as required.
- Empty rubbish bins.
- Mop floors.
- Clean walls.
- Ensure all fixtures and fittings are left shiny and clean.

Kitchens
- Ensure all worktops are clean and sinks are clean and free from dirty dishes.
- Place dirty dishes into the dishwasher, removing debris from plates and cutlery.
- Empty rubbish bins and wipe bins clean.
- Put away all clean dishes.
- Top up dispensers.
- Wipe all cupboard surfaces.
- Vacuum and mop floors.

Meeting Rooms
- Wipe clean all surfaces and ensure areas are tidy.
- Empty rubbish bins and wipe bins clean.
- Vacuum floors.
- Dispose of rubbish safely.
- Ensure cleaning equipment is tidied and stored correctly.

The candidate must be hard‑working, organised, and dedicated, with the ability to maintain high standards across clinical and non‑clinical areas.
- Achieve and maintain high standards of cleanliness at all times, in line with CQC requirements and the Practice’s Infection Control policy.
- Provide a clean and safe environment using cleaning equipment and materials appropriately and effectively.
- Follow colour‑coding protocols for mops, cloths, and buckets at all times.
- Clean specific areas as defined in the cleaning schedules.
- Dispose of all waste in accordance with practice policies.
- Perform a variety of cleaning activities including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and cleaning fixtures, fittings, and internal glass.
- Ensure all furnishings are cleaned and maintained as required.
- Carry out any other housekeeping duties within the building as required.
- Report any issues or damage to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
- Apply a “care for the environment” approach, including correct recycling and waste segregation.
- Adhere strictly to Health & Safety rules and be aware of all relevant company policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure cleaning schedules are completed accurately.
- Contribute to indirect patient care by maintaining high standards in patient areas.
- Carry out work in accordance with Practice policies.
- Report misuse or faults with equipment to the Housekeeping Lead.
- Undertake mandatory and required training as needed.
ENVIRONMENT
- Maintain general awareness and attention to the environment at all times.
- Wear PPE when carrying out duties.
- Use cleaning products safely, in accordance with COSHH guidance.
