ABOUT THE ROLE
Nestled on the shores of the Urr Estuary in the picturesque village of Kippford, The Anchor Hotel is one of Dumfries & Galloway’s most beloved coastal retreats. With sweeping estuary views, a warm community feel, and a reputation built on honest, quality food, this is a kitchen with real soul.
We’re looking for a talented and driven Sous Chef or Chef de Partie to join our team at a genuinely exciting moment - as we head into a full refurbishment this winter, preparing to relaunch with a fresh identity and elevated dining experience. This isn’t just a job - it’s a chance to be part of something being built from the ground up, in one of Scotland’s most beautiful corners.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Playing a key role in day-to-day kitchen operations alongside the Head Chef
- Helping to shape and develop menus that celebrate local Scottish produce
- Maintaining the highest standards of food quality, preparation, and presentation
- Contributing ideas and creativity as the restaurant evolves through refurbishment
- Overseeing and supporting junior kitchen team members
- Ensuring food hygiene, allergen awareness, and kitchen safety standards are upheld
- Adapting confidently across a varied service style
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Proven experience in a professional kitchen at Sous Chef or Chef de Partie level
- A passion for great food and a pride in what you put on the plate
- Someone who thrives in a close-knit, hands-on team environment
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure
- A positive, can-do attitude - especially valuable during an exciting period of change
- Familiarity with Scottish produce and seasonal cooking is a big plus
- Relevant food hygiene certification (or willingness to obtain)
