We are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Tendering Engineer to join a well-established engineering business based in Halesowen. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a growing company delivering mechanical installation and pipework projects across the Water, Process, Petrochemical and Industrial sectors.
Working closely with the engineering and project teams, you will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive and technically compliant tender submissions, ensuring quotations are completed on time and in line with customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed mechanical tenders for pipework, fabrication, installation and associated equipment.
- Review engineering drawings, P&IDs and specifications to develop accurate cost estimates.
- Produce material take-offs from general arrangement (GA) drawings.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Carry out site visits where required to assess project requirements.
- Liaise with customers to clarify technical information and ensure tender submissions are fully compliant.
- Prepare labour, material and overall project cost estimates.
- Attend post-tender and project handover meetings where required.
- Support project teams by providing tender information following contract award.
- Review completed projects against original estimates to help improve future tender accuracy.
What We're Looking For
- A Mechanical Engineer with 5+ years' experience in a tendering, estimating or mechanical engineering role.
- Experience within the Water Industry is highly desirable, although candidates from the Process, Petrochemical, Industrial or Oil & Gas sectors will also be considered.
- Strong knowledge of large diameter carbon steel and stainless steel pipework.
- Ability to interpret GA drawings, P&IDs and technical specifications.
- Experience estimating fabrication, installation and mechanical equipment costs.
- Good commercial awareness with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers and internal project teams.
