Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HGV Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing a fleet of heavy goods vehicles, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Diagnose faults using electrical schematics and mechanical knowledge to identify issues accurately.
- Perform repairs involving fabrication, welding, soldering, and the use of hand tools and power tools.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, parts used, and service history for each vehicle.
- Carry out electrical repairs and system diagnostics on HGVs, including wiring and sensor troubleshooting.
- Assist with the assembly and modification of vehicle components as required.
- Operate equipment such as excavators and forklifts safely during maintenance procedures.
- Conduct heavy lifting tasks safely when handling parts or components during repairs or maintenance activities.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an HGV Technician or similar role specialising in heavy vehicle maintenance.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with proficiency in fabrication, welding, soldering, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical schematics accurately.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment for equipment repair.
- Experience working with specialised machinery such as excavators and forklifts is desirable.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and diagnostics.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting tasks and working in various environmental conditions.
- Valid UK driving licence is preferred due to the nature of the role involving vehicle movement or site access.
