Costing Engineer within Automotive Manufacturing
Portsmouth
£40,000 - £45,000 per annum dependant on experience, plus 33 days holiday (including bank holidays), pension, life assurance, employee assistance programme, wellbeing support, and flexible benefits including cycle to work scheme
About the Role
As a Costing Engineer you will be driving commercial accuracy and supporting market expansion through rigorous data analysis and process ownership. This role ensures the delivery of profitable growth by managing the end-to-end quotation process and providing the sales team with actionable insights. The role will combine a mix of in-depth manufacturing costing and financial analysis to support the business in execution of competitive bids.
As part of your key responsibilities you’ll:
- Partner with Business Development Managers and Commercial Director to provide data-driven insights that inform sector strategies and identify untapped revenue opportunities
- Lead the Bid within the business unit comprising: Business Development, Operations, Project Management, Finance, IT, HR and Commercial through the defined Bid Management process
- Write and design articulate, concise customer-centric proposals, presentations and other documents as required
- Manage the end-to end production of bid documents and ensure that all proposals are completed on time and comply fully with the customer specification and requirements
- Facilitate Value Proposition sessions, to ensure customer-centric and rationalised win strategies are developed and integrated into submission documents
- Lead the qualification and sign off process, including document creation for opportunities
- Track and manage key outputs, actions and clarifications throughout the bid process
- Lead Contract review Meetings to drive collaborative sessions sales and manufacturing teams
- Ensure a high quality, customer centric, look and feel of proposal documents
- Work with the wider Commercial Team on projects to improve processes
About You
We’d love you to have the following skills and experience, but please apply if you think you’d be able to perform well in this role!
- Experience of manufacturing in either injection moulding or composites is highly desirable
- Base location of Portsmouth, UK, or the surrounding area.
- Experience in developing and creating detailed quotations
- Educated to degree level in Engineering, Business, Maths or Economics discipline or proven experience
- Strong Bid Management experience
- Used to working under pressure and to challenging deadlines with energy and passion, and will have the flexibility to deal with change
