Job purpose:
Reporting to the Operations Director, the QHSE Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and continuously improving the Company's Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives, customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
The role will lead the Company's integrated management systems, driving a culture of quality, safety, accountability and continuous improvement across all operations. The QHSE Manager will ensure products consistently meet or exceed customer expectations, maintain compliance with applicable legislation and standards, and support operational excellence through robust quality, environmental and health & safety management.
The QHSE Manager will act as the Company subject matter expert for Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental matters, providing leadership, governance and guidance across the business whilst promoting a proactive culture focused on prevention, risk reduction and continuous improvement.
Main duties and responsibilities:
· Develop and implement the Company's QHSE strategy, goals and objectives, ensuring alignment with operational and commercial priorities
· Lead management reviews of QHSE systems and performance, ensuring effective governance and continual improvement.
· Full ownership of QHSE Systems to ensure ISO accreditation is maintained and achieved
· Ensure all products meet or exceed internal and external quality benchmarks, working alongside NPD and production teams
· Lead root cause investigations and corrective and preventative actions arising from customer complaints, internal non-conformances, supplier issues and audit findings
· Act as the primary point of escalation for customer quality concerns, ensuring timely containment, investigation and resolution
· Establish and maintain robust quality assurance, quality control and inspection processes throughout the manufacturing operation
· Maintain ownership of the Company's Health and Safety Management System in accordance with ISO 45001 and legal requirements
· Ensure full compliance with all relevant Health and Safety legislation and industry best practice.
· Monitor Health and Safety performance and develop action plans to achieve continual improvement
· Ensure effective risk assessments, COSHH assessments and control measures are maintained throughout the business.
· Maintain ownership of the Company's Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO requirements
· Ensure compliance with all environmental legislation, permits and regulatory obligations.
· Develop environmental objectives and sustainability initiatives supporting the Company's operational and commercial goals.
· Lead programmes focused on waste reduction, recycling, energy efficiency and resource optimisation
· Maintain full ownership of the Company's Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring ISO certifications are maintained and continuously improved.
· Plan and lead internal audit programmes across all business functions.
· Act as the primary point of contact for external audits conducted by certification bodies, customers and regulatory authorities.
· Liaising with suppliers setting and agreeing quality standards: limit samples.
Qualifications & Experience
· Recognised Qualification in relevant discipline
· Demonstratable experience and success at a senior level in Quality Leadership, governance, evaluation, and improvement in a manufacturing environment
· Demonstrated experience in manufacturing environments
· Knowledge of quality tools and problem-solving techniques
· Knowledge and experience of quality management systems including ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001
