Self-Employed Gardener Wanted
Middlewood Garden Maintenance Ltd is a growing garden maintenance company looking for a reliable, hardworking and passionate self-employed gardener to join our team.
We work across a variety of large private gardens, carrying out high-quality garden maintenance and landscaping using professional hand tools and power tools.
The Role
The successful candidate will be involved in a wide range of gardening and garden maintenance duties, including:
- Using hand tools such as secateurs, spades, forks and rakes to prune, trim and maintain plants and shrubs.
- Operating power tools including lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, strimmers and leaf blowers.
- Carrying out regular garden maintenance including mowing, edging, weeding, pruning and fertilising.
- Assisting with planting, sowing and growing a variety of plants, flowers and vegetables.
- Monitoring plant health and identifying pests, diseases and other plant problems.
- Carrying out treatments when required and appropriate.
- Helping to plan and improve gardens based on client requirements.
- Maintaining high standards across large private gardens.
- Maintaining gardening equipment and ensuring all tools and machinery are kept clean and in good working condition.
- Working independently as well as part of a small team.
- Keeping work areas tidy and presenting gardens to a high standard.
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience using a range of hand tools and power tools for gardening.
- Some experience with a variety of plants, flowers and shrubs.
- A good understanding of horticulture and garden maintenance techniques.
- Experience with irrigation systems would be an advantage.
- Previous gardening, landscaping or horticultural experience is desirable, but enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are just as important.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage tasks independently.
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in their work.
- Good physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- A genuine passion for gardening and maintaining beautiful gardens.
- A positive attitude and the desire to grow with a growing business.
Working Days & Location
- 4–5 days per week available
- The position is initially self-employed.
- For the right person, there is the opportunity to progress into a permanent full-time position as the business grows.
- You will need to be able to drive to our meeting point/location each morning.
- If you live locally, collection may be available by arrangement.
