The Role
We are currently hiring for a Qualified Science Tutor to support a year 7 student. Support will be needed in all three sciences but especially with physics and biology.
Pay: From £20 per hour
Location: DA1- sessions take place in the student's home
Commitment: 1 hour per week
Schedule: Wednesday or Friday PM
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys engaging with young people and would like to make a meaningful impact through personalised, one-to-one teaching.
Essential Requirements
Please read carefully — applicants must meet the following essential criteria:
- Must be a qualified teacher: QTS, PGCE or an equivalent teaching certificate (REQUIRED)
- MUST be familiar with the GCSE curriculum (REQUIRED)
- MUST be available weekly for a 1 hour tutoring session (REQUIRED)
- Must have achieved a B at GCSE or A level in the subject you're interested in tutoring if you are applying to work with GCSE/A-level students
- MUST be able to prove that you have the right to work in the UK on a self-employed basis (REQUIRED)
- MUST be able to access a printer as and when necessary- resources are provided however, tutors are expected to print from time to time (REQUIRED)
Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 tutoring sessions, focusing on their individual learning needs and goals.
- Build relationships and rapport with students
- Make sessions fun and interactive
- Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching methods as necessary.
- Encourage and motivate students to build confidence in their academic abilities
