Stores Manager

Firth Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established and respected engineering business serving customers across the Highlands. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced and highly organised Stores Manager to take ownership of their busy stores operation.
This is an excellent opportunity to step into a key leadership role within a professional engineering environment, where you will be responsible for managing stock control, supplier relationships, and the smooth running of the stores function to support workshop and service operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the day-to-day operation of the stores department.
- Overseeing the receipt, checking, and booking in of all deliveries.
- Leading the picking and issuing of parts and components to engineers and workshop staff.
- Maintaining accurate stock levels and ensuring regular stock audits are completed.
- Managing supplier relationships and placing orders for parts and consumables.
- Ensuring the stores area is organised, efficient, clean, and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Identifying and sourcing parts and components for heavy plant and engineering equipment.
- Maintaining and improving stock control systems and processes.
- Overseeing goods-in, goods-out, and dispatch activities.
- Working closely with engineering, workshop, and service teams to ensure operational requirements are met.
- Investigating and resolving stock discrepancies and implementing corrective actions.
- Supporting continuous improvement within the stores function.
About You
We are looking for a confident and proactive individual with strong experience in a stores, parts, or warehouse management role, ideally within an engineering, automotive, agricultural, or heavy plant environment.
You will also have:
- Previous experience in a stores, parts, or warehouse supervisory/management role.
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical parts and engineering components.
- Proven ability to manage stock control systems and processes.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Good IT skills and confidence using inventory management systems.
- The ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
- A full UK driving licence (preferred).
