Role: Cloud Architect
- Base Office Location: Bristol, London or Manchester
- Mandatory Requirement: Active UK Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance.
Are you able to guide defence users through complex technology challenges, and rapidly develop new solutions to meet defence needs? We are looking for an experienced senior hire to help digitise defence with new thinking on technology capabilities and adoption processes, and someone who is sensitively able to combine the latest thinking with traditional military functions.

In this role, you can expect to:

Guide our clients through their cloud journey from strategy through to a working and breathing environment supporting their most critical services.
- Help to build robust and scalable cloud platforms that enable teams to deliver modern micro-services based and digital solutions and continuously improve environments through automation and infrastructure-as-code.
- Focus on helping our clients design and implement modern, agile Cloud environments.

Deliver across a broad range of activities from technical and solution architecture design to operations, prototyping, developing and testing (depending on the size of the project and the client needs).
- Collaborate with cloud thought leaders across disciplines to innovate together contributing to RFP responses and other business development activities and building lasting relationships with clients and colleagues.

We are currently looking for candidates with proven ability to apply knowledge and expertise in a range of client scenarios, focusing on high quality even in high pressured, time critical situations, and with skills across the following areas:
Problem Solving & Delivery:

Providing thought-through, clearly articulated, pragmatic solutions and recommendations to complex business problems.

Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload, meet project deadlines, and drive results.
Communication & Management:

Communicating complex/technical issues to non-technical audiences.

Management of teams and deliverables.

Vendor/product assessment and selection.
Cloud Architecture & Engineering:
-
Assessment of applications for technical suitability for migration to Cloud.
-
Expertise in Cloud Architecture & Engineering across major platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, OCI).
-
Proficiency with container technologies (e.g., Docker, Rocket) and orchestration engines (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Rancher, Swarm).
-
Experience with Infrastructure as Code development (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, ARM, GCP CDM).
-
Running and utilising Cloud automation tooling, including Continuous Integration & Deployment.
-
Understanding and application of DevOps philosophies and toolchains for continuous integration and delivery.
-
Linux and Windows system implementation and management using automation frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Salt Stack, Puppet, PowerShell).
-
Familiarity with application deployment and testing toolchains (e.g., Jenkins, SVN, GitHub).
-
Knowledge of security and performance considerations and approaches for digital systems, including exposure to security and performance testing processes.
-
Experience helping clients define technical and non-functional requirements.

Cloud environment design and implementation.
Cloud Consulting:
-
Guiding clients through the end-to-end journey for cloud infrastructure and engineering.

Defining and delivering Cloud Strategy and Operating Models aligned with business, technology, and digital strategies.
-
Developing Business Cases for Cloud Investment.
-
appropriate products and services for solutions.

Leading stand-up meetings and architecting/delivering on platforms.
-
Deep understanding of leading cloud technologies and key cloud challenges.

Providing authoritative insights on how cloud influences and enables emerging technology trends.

Building and maintaining relationships with key integration vendors (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
Technical Authoring:
-
Transcribing architectural information into technical documents suitable for engineering and development teams.
-
Development, publication, and maintenance of technical documentation (potentially using git, markup, etc.).
-
Managing technical decision-making processes, including running a backlog, framing difficult topics neutrally, organising discussions, and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
