Role
The Scottish Recovery Consortium (SRC) is seeking a collaborative, proactive and values-driven individual to join our Experiential Team as MIST National Officer (Experiential Team).
This is a unique opportunity to play a meaningful role in reducing drug-related deaths and harms in Scotland by shaping how treatment and support services are designed and delivered. Working at both national and local levels, you will help ensure that the voices and experiences of people accessing services, their families, and support staff directly inform improvement and change across the system.
Working closely with SRC colleagues and in partnership with Public Health Scotland’s Medication Assisted Standards Implementation Support Team (MIST) you will play a key role in the ongoing development of how the Medication Assisted Treatment Standards translate into continued improvements in people’s lives. Focusing on outcomes rather than processes, you will support efforts to ensure equitable access to high-quality treatment in both community as well as prison settings.
As 2026/27 is the first year that the experiential stream will contribute to the MAT Implementation annual reporting cycle within prison settings, this role will involve significant work and collaboration with colleagues across Scotland’s prison estate.
Through this work, you will play a key role in impacting how services respond to people’s real needs, ensuring they are experienced as accessible, respectful, and grounded in dignity and human rights.
A key part of the role is building strong, trusting relationships across a wide network of partners including Grassroots Recovery Communities and Lived Experienced Recovery Organisations, Alcohol and Drug Partnerships, NHS services, the Scottish Prison Service, Health and Social Care Partnerships, and third sector organisations.
We are looking for someone with excellent relationship-building and facilitation skills, a strong commitment to human rights, and the ability to work collaboratively across complex systems.
If you are motivated by the opportunity to help influence real change and ensure people’s experiences lead to better outcomes, we would welcome your application.
As this is a national role involving travel across Scotland, a driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous. However, we are committed to considering exceptional candidates who may not meet these criteria.
Benefits include:
- 10% pension contribution
- Life assurance
- 28 days annual leave plus public holidays
If you are passionate about recovery, rights-based practice and making a meaningful difference in Scotland’s alcohol and drug sector, we would love to hear from you.
