Job Title: Group Finance Manager
Location: Hybrid (Stoke-on-Trent Head Office / Oldbury Office / Regional Hubs as the business grows)
Salary: £70,000 + car allowance + benefits package
Reporting to: Group Finance Director
About the Role
The Phoenix Group is seeking a hands-on and strategic Group Finance Manager to act as deputy to our Finance Director. This is a critical leadership role supporting our continued growth, strengthening financial controls, and managing the integration of acquired businesses. You will lead our finance function, ensuring high-quality reporting, analysis, and commercial insight for the Board and Senior Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership: Manage and develop the finance team, establishing clear performance expectations.
- Reporting & Insight: Take ownership of monthly management accounts, moving toward insightful analysis and Group-wide commentary.
- Planning: Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, and working-capital oversight.
- Compliance: Maintain statutory compliance, financial controls, and governance across all entities.
- Strategy: Provide commercial business partnering to operational leaders and support strategic decision-making.
- Integration: Lead the finance integration of future acquisitions.
Essential Requirements
- Qualifications: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or MAAT qualified (or equivalent professional experience).
- Management Accounting: Strong experience in producing, reviewing, and improving management accounts.
- Leadership: Demonstrable experience in managing and developing finance teams.
- Financial Control: Deep understanding of controls, statutory reporting, and compliance.
- Planning: Proficient in budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management.
- Commercial Acumen: Ability to translate financial data into clear commercial insight.
- Systems: Strong Excel skills and experience with financial systems.
- Adaptability: Experience working in a growing, multi-entity environment.
Success Measures & KPIs
Success in this role will be measured by the strength and commercial value of the finance function, including:
- Timely Reporting: Accurate, reliable monthly management reporting, consistently operating on a one-month-in-arrears basis.
- Strategic Insight: Delivering clear Group-wide financial commentary that drives informed Board and operational decision-making.
- Team Development: Improving ownership, accountability, and resilience across the wider finance team.
- Operational Control: Effective management of cash-flow, working capital, and strict adherence to financial compliance and statutory deadlines.
- Integration: Successful finance integration of new business acquisitions.
- Business Partnering: Proactive and credible engagement with the Senior Leadership Team and Board.
