Specialist Construction Trade Associations
We are looking for a proactive, organised and creative person to join our small team in a new Communications & Marketing Admin role.
Working across two premier trade associations in the construction industry, this is a new role with a clear focus on content, communications, social media and promoting the work of the associations.
A big part of the role will be developing our social media and trade press communications, but there will also be plenty of opportunity to get involved in events, member engagement, marketing and other creative projects. You will work alongside our existing administration and operations team.
What you'll be doing
Social Media & Communications
- Managing and developing our social media presence, particularly LinkedIn and Instagram.
- Creating and scheduling regular, engaging content across social media and websites.
- Liaising with the website development teams when necessary for updates.
- Sharing member news, completed projects, industry news, events, training and other relevant content.
- Helping to promote our seminars, awards, training courses, publications and membership.
- Creating simple graphics and promotional materials using tools such as Canva.
- Gathering photographs, stories and updates from members and turning them into interesting content.
- Preparing newsletters and other member communications.
- Liaising with Technical Officers and Trade Press to create engaging and useful content for publication.
- Liaising with designers for creation of video content, banners and other promotional materials.
- Coordinate project timelines, track progress, and ensure deadlines are met through effective time management
Events & Marketing
We run a number of events throughout the year, including technical seminars, awards and training, and you'll have an active role in helping us promote and support these.
This could include:
- Creating promotional content before and after events.
- Helping with event communications.
- Supporting sponsor and exhibitor promotion.
- Taking photographs and gathering content at events.
- Assisting with general event organisation and coordination on the day.
General Administrative Duties
- Maintain organised records of communications, campaign results, and project documentation.
- Keeping files up to date.
- Assisting with general administration when required.
- Proofreading reports.
- Creating engaging PowerPoint presentations.
- Database management.
About you
We're looking for someone who:

- Has excellent written English and enjoys writing.
- Is confident using social media and interested in creating content.
- Has a good eye for what makes an interesting story or post.
- Is comfortable speaking to people and building relationships.
- Is creative and happy to suggest ideas rather than simply wait to be told what to do.
- Has meticulous attention to detail.
- Is confident using Microsoft Office and willing to learn new systems.
- Is interested in learning about our industry and the members we represent.
- Ideally will have experience with Canva, Mail Chimp, PowerPoint or similar programmes.
- Able to travel occasionally (once or twice a year) within the UK for 1-2 days at a time for events.
Experience in membership organisations or trade associations would be useful, but isn't essential.
The role
This is a part-time, hybrid position, with hours to be agreed with the successful candidate.
We're a small organisation, which means you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine difference. You'll be encouraged to bring your own ideas, take ownership of your area of work and help us develop how we communicate with our members and the wider industry.
It's a varied role and would suit someone who enjoys a mixture of social media, communications, people and creative work.
If you're enthusiastic and organised and willing to get involved, we'd love to hear from you.
