CHEF JOB DESCRIPTION

Durnsford Lodge is a residential care home near Stoke Village in Plymouth. We are a very caring group of people providing people with a homely environment and kind, caring staff. Our work environment includes:
A capacity of 28 beds.
Key Responsibilities:
· Plan and prepare balances, appetising meals tailored to residents’ dietary requirements and preferences.
· Ensure all food are cooked to high standards of quality, taste, and presentation.
· Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen in accordance with food safety regulations
· Manage food in inventory, order supplies as needed, and minimise waste
· Serve meals efficiently and courteously, ensuring residents are comfortable and satisfied
· Follow all health and safety protocols during food preparation and service
· Collaborate with care staff to accommodate special diets or nutritional plans
· Ensure that when there are special celebrations, appropriate meals/snacks are made accordingly
· Ensure that each individual’s service users’ daily choice of food is recorded.
· Ensure adequate daily stocks of consumables are readily available
· To perform other such reasonable duties as may be required.
What we are looking for:
· Experience within a care home, healthcare, or similar environment is desirable.
· A recognised food hygiene qualification (Level 3 Food Safety or equivalent is preferred).
· Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hygiene management
· Familiarity with meal planning, portion control, and dietary restrictions
· Strong skills in food presentation and serving techniques
· Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintain attention to detail
· A passion for producing high-quality meals and creating positive dining experiences.
· Knowledge of special dietary requirements and nutrition for older people is an advantage.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £13.00 per hour
