Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cutting Technician to join our production team in Sheffield. This is a key hands-on role responsible for ensuring the accurate cutting and preparation of technical fabrics for garment production. The successful candidate will maintain the highest standards of precision, efficiency, and material care — supporting Buffalo’s commitment to exceptional quality and craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and carry out manual fabric cutting for technical outdoor garments.
- Interpret patterns and markers to optimise fabric usage and minimise waste.
- Oversee fabric laying, matching, and quality checking prior to cutting.
- Maintain cutting room equipment and ensure safe, efficient operation.
- Work closely with Production, Pattern Cutting, and Sewing teams to ensure smooth workflow.
- Train and support junior staff, fostering skill development and accuracy.
- Monitor material stock levels and communicate supply requirements.
- Uphold Buffalo’s quality standards and attention to detail across all cutting operations.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in garment cutting within technical or performance wear manufacturing essential.
- Strong understanding of fabric behaviour, particularly synthetic and pile-lined materials.
- Proficiency in manual and/or automated cutting methods (Gerber, Lectra, or similar systems an advantage).
- Excellent pattern reading and marker planning skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to precision.
- Awareness of health and safety procedures in a production environment.
