PROJECT MANAGER – Welsh Water Framework
Location: Warrington
A career development opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join our growing team at Galliford Try within our Environment Business in the Warrington area.
What you will be doing:
As Project Manager you will manage all aspects of Capital Maintenance delivery across the full project lifecycle — from condition assessment and planning through to construction, rehabilitation, commissioning and handover.
Managing multiple concurrent maintenance schemes across the framework, you will develop and maintain key relationships within Welsh Water and Galliford Try technical and non-technical teams to drive successful delivery against KPIs and PIs.
Working closely with Senior Project Managers and Delivery Managers, you will assume responsibility for the financial performance of your portfolio of schemes, with overall P&L accountability across the Capital Maintenance framework. This includes all project performance reporting and participation in monthly financial and programme reviews with the Commercial Manager, Head of Delivery and Senior Project Manager.
You will take an active role in identifying and developing further maintenance opportunities within the framework
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering programme, risk register, financial position, H&S, environmental performance and progress updates across all allocated maintenance schemes
- Applying NEC contract knowledge and commercial awareness to manage variations and final accounts on maintenance works
- Ensuring all schemes are delivered in compliance with current Health & Safety legislation, CDM regulations and environmental requirements
- Reviewing and assessing subcontractor RAMS for maintenance and rehabilitation activities
- Managing the project team with clear objectives, defined roles and responsibilities aligned to maintenance delivery
- Establishing and agreeing price variations and final accounts on term and capital maintenance contracts
- Preparing estimates, quotations and tender vetting for maintenance subcontracts
- Developing and maintaining detailed project programmes in conjunction with the planner, driving schemes to key maintenance milestones
- Liaising with design, tendering and asset management teams to ensure resources are correctly allocated and client asset performance requirements are met
- Ensuring procurement of plant, materials and specialist subcontractors is carried out in a timely manner and represents best value
- Coordinating with suppliers, specialist subcontractors, in-house functions and site teams on maintenance and rehabilitation works
- Attending internal and external review meetings, progress meetings and site visits
Ensuring all contract closeout documentation — including As-Built drawings, Commissioning Manuals and O&M Manuals

About You:
- An industry applicable ONC/HNC/B.Eng or NVQ equivalent
- H&S qualifications (desirable)
- IOSH or CITB 5 Day Site Safety Management (SMSTS)
- CSCS card
- Demonstrable experience working with NEC suite of contracts
- Demonstrable experience of working within the water industry
- Working knowledge of Microsoft packages
- Strong team player but also able to work as an individual
- Ability to prioritise a varied workload and demonstrate good time management to comply with deadlines
- Able to work in a busy environment under pressure
- Excellent communication skills (email/phone/face to face)
- Possess a “can do” attitude and provide to support to other members of the team as required
- Ability to review options and be comfortable to make the required decisions for the project success
