Job Purpose
The Assistant Accountant will support the finance team in delivering accurate, timely financial data. You will play a key role in month-end processing, financial reporting, and variance analysis. This role offers excellent progression for a driven individual looking to fully qualify.
Key Responsibilities
- Month-End Support: Assist with management accounts preparation, journal postings, accruals, and prepayments.
- Balance Sheet: Conduct regular balance sheet reconciliations to ensure data integrity.
- Profit & Loss: Perform variance analysis against budgets and forecasts.
- Ledger Management: Oversee the purchase and sales ledgers, resolving complex queries.
- Cash Management: Complete daily bank reconciliations and assist with cash flow forecasting.
- Compliance: Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns and assist with year-end audit files.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement efficiencies within current financial systems.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Professional Qualification: Part-qualified or newly qualified ACCA or CIMA.
- Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of experience working within a busy finance function.
- System Skills: Strong proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (e.g., Sage, SAP, Xero).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills to communicate financial data to non-finance stakeholders.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £45,000.00-£48,000.00 per year
