About the role
The Cryogenic Fabrication Technician is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and testing of cryogenic systems and components. The role supports all stages of production, including component manufacture, system assembly, finishing, inspection, and quality assurance throughout the product lifecycle.
The position requires the development of specialist fabrication and joining skills, with a strong focus on precision silver brazing/ hard soldering, and polishing. The successful candidate will also develop practical machining and fabrication experience while supporting continuous improvement and design-for-manufacture activities within an engineering environment. Although prior experience is beneficial, it is not essential, full training will be provided for every responsibility.
Responsibilities
Fabrication and Assembly
- Assembling products using hard soldering / silver brazing
- Finishing products including cleaning and polishing
- Integrity testing components and assembled cryocoolers
- Machining one-off parts for prototypes and test systems
- Assisting with the design and manufacture of parts such as assembly jigs
- Assist with quality assurance inspections and documentation, ensuring that all fabricated parts meet required standards.
- Record and maintain manufacturing and quality data for traceability and process improvement.
- Work closely with design, production, and quality teams to ensure smooth transition of components through the manufacturing process.
- Apply core engineering knowledge gained through training to improve fabrication processes.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing quality, safety, and production efficiency.

Pay: £24,500.00-£27,000.00 per year
