Permanent, part time, 6 hours per week.
Working Pattern & Pay
6 days, every 4 weeks (Sunday to Friday rota).
This equates to 24 hours per month (12 weeks per year - averages out at 6 hours per week).
4 hours per shift: 2:00pm – 6:00pm (Monday – Friday) & 1.00pm – 5:00pm (Sunday).
Sundays paid at ‘Time’ + ¼.
Additional hours may be available to cover sickness and annual leave.
Riverside Catering are offering an interesting opportunity for a Cook in Charge to join our dedicated team. This post is based at Liberty House, Masbrough, Rotherham (5 minutes from town centre) – a welcoming short-stay centre supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
At Liberty House, we are passionate about creating a positive, enjoyable, and personalised experience for every young person in our care. Food is an important part of that experience, and we’re looking for someone who shares our commitment to quality and care in the kitchen.
About the Role
You’ll take the lead in a friendly, well-equipped kitchen, preparing and serving high-quality meals for up to 10 young people, each with their own unique care plan and dietary needs.
Your responsibilities will include:

Preparing, cooking, and serving meals
- Catering for individual dietary requirements
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and health & safety standards
- Managing portion control and stock awareness
- Using a tablet for basic recording and documentation
- Ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently.
This is a hands-on role where your contribution truly makes a difference to the daily lives of young people.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who:

Has experience in a catering environment (Essential)
- Holds a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, has an NVQ Level 2 in Catering (or equivalent)
- Demonstrates excellent hygiene practices and attention to detail
- Is organised, reliable, and passionate about providing a high-quality service.
