Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) – Manufacturing and Engineering
Location: Portsmouth
Salary: £45,000 per annum
Job Type: Fixed Term Contract 6 Months
Hours: Monday to Friday, day time hours.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our clients team on a fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically qualified engineer to play a key role in maintaining the safe, reliable and efficient operation of our manufacturing facility in Portsmouth.
Working as part of the engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering planned, preventative and reactive maintenance, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring machinery and site services operate at maximum efficiency with minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and control system faults.
- Maintain, modify and improve production machinery and electrical equipment.
- Fault find on PLC-controlled equipment and automated systems.
- Install, test and commission new machinery and plant as required.
- Support continuous improvement projects to enhance reliability and performance.
- Ensure machinery and electrical installations remain compliant with statutory regulations.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and asset history.
- Manage maintenance materials, spare parts and external contractors where required.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience in electrical maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong fault-finding skills on electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems.
- Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment.
- Knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance techniques.
