Job description:
Warehouse Operative (Hardware Staging)
Spencer Technologies UK | Sheffield (On-site) | Full-Time, Permanent | Mon–Fri, 8:00am–4:00pm
Spencer Technologies is a global provider of field services and infrastructure support, from structured cabling through to active equipment. For over 40 years we’ve helped the world’s leading retail brands and channel partners solve their toughest logistics and technology challenges.
We’re looking for a reliable, detail-focused Warehouse Operative to join our Sheffield team. Alongside picking, packing and shipping, you’ll pre-stage hardware and technical equipment before it goes out to our clients — a great fit if you’re practical, methodical and take pride in getting every detail right.
What You’ll Do
- Pick, pack, label and dispatch orders accurately and to deadline
- Pre-stage hardware and technical equipment ready for client sites, checking configurations against the build sheet
- Operate an electric pallet stacker and electric order picker safely to put away, retrieve and stage stock
- Receive and unload incoming deliveries, checking goods against delivery notes and reporting shortages or damage
- Book stock in and out and keep inventory records accurate and up to date in our system
- Prepare shipping paperwork and consignment labels, and load outgoing vehicles safely and securely
- Liaise with third-party carriers and logistics providers to schedule collections and track consignments
- Carry out daily pre-use checks on handling equipment and report any faults or defects immediately
- Support stock counts, cycle counts and returns processing
- Work with project managers and sales teams across the UK and US to hit delivery dates
- Keep the warehouse clean, tidy, safe and audit-ready at all times
What You’ll Bring
- Previous experience in a warehouse, stores or distribution environment
- Practical experience operating an electric pallet stacker (or similar powered pallet truck) and an electric order picker
- Excellent attention to detail — our clients rely on the right kit arriving in the right configuration
- Comfortable working at height in an order picker, and physically fit enough to lift and move equipment throughout the shift
- Reliable and punctual, with a consistent Monday to Friday commitment
- A methodical approach, good problem-solving skills and the confidence to work independently
- Basic IT literacy — Microsoft 365, Outlook and warehouse or stock systems
- The right to work in the UK
Nice to Have
- A tech-savvy mindset or genuine interest in IT and store technology hardware
- A current accredited operator certificate (RTITB, ITSSAR, AITT or NPORS) for powered pallet stacker and/or order picker
- Experience with Smartsheet or similar tracking tools
- Experience handling high-value or serialised stock
Not certified on a stacker or order picker yet? There’s no formal licence needed in the UK, but the law requires every operator to be properly trained. If you have the right attitude and some warehouse experience, we’ll put you through full accredited training and authorise you before you operate any equipment.
What We Offer
- 25 days holiday per year plus all statutory bank holidays
- Company pension scheme contributions
- All PPE and safety equipment provided
- Full accredited training on our handling equipment, plus ongoing role and product training
- A supportive, close-knit team and genuine progression within a growing global business

- GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
Experience:
- Warehouse Operator: 3 years (preferred)
Pay: £25,420.00-£27,500.00 per year
